Reservations-My viewpoint

As the title suggests the post will cover something about reservations. At this point of time most of the Indians will guess what kind of reservations I am talking about. But for those who are not aware of the current scenario I will write down what all this is about. The Indian goverment has decided to increase the reservation quota for OBC's to 27% in all educational institutions including IIT's and AIIMS. This means that the reserved seats quota has been effectively raised to 50% and only half of the seats in all educational institutions will be available to general category students including the elite institutes like IIT's and AIIMS. This means that there will be around 1500 seats available for general category IIT aspirants which consist of around 150,000 and about 1500 seats available for ther reserved category students which consist of about 25,000. (these figures are approximate based on the facts that 5 years ago there were about 2600 seats available in IITs excluding BHU and ISM dhanbad. 150000 students competed in that exams and 126,000 were general category students. This is a crude estimate but it will solve the purpose nonetheless). I don't know what is the scenario for medical students and other educational institutions. I should also mention that according to a Govt. of India survey about 23% population of india falls under OBC category.
Lets assume that I am not aware of any social scenario which exists in this country which might not be a wrong assumption. So i can not say anything about the reservation issue. I simply can not have any opinion on this. But going by the figures shown above we see that for general category only 1% students of the total students will be selected but for reserved category about 6% of total students appearing from that category will be selected. I don't know how this figure can be justified. May be Mr. Arjun Singh can, afterall he is a graduate from Harvard where they have a reservation for students from other nationalities.
Again if we consider the scenario with reservations being implemented we will still have an intake of 1300 top notch students from general category and 1300 from backward. I am assuming that backward category students require reservation because they can not compete with upper class general category students. So when they study in IIT they will have to compete with general category who are much better in studies because of the better facilities and since we have a system of relative grading the backward category students will have a hard time studying with general students. So for the better development of these students and achieving the ultimate motive for better future for backward castes either these students should have different sections(as we had in our schools where the sections were based on student's merits) or the backward category students should have a different grading sytem. Once again doing this will increase the divide between so called upper castes and lower castes. This is what we can call a catch-22 situation. The problem I am trying to depict here actually happens in IITs which is one of the reason why there are so many backward category students with extended degrees. Yet there are students from backward category who are one of the best IIT's have to offer. So may be the reservation is actually required but I personally think that the percentage for reservation is overwhelming. I mean, in a country with already a few opportunities regardless of castes, a country should at least distribute them evenly to the population.
So as one can see I am against this reservation issue.Yet I haven't taken part in any rallies because I do not believe in rallies or peaceful march. I guess the politicians are thick skinned bastards who only see their votebank and with situations in politics so volatile the congress had to resort to these mean measures to ensure their seats in next elections. I can not comprehend why politics can not be fair in this country with BJP trying to strenghen their votebank with communal divide and congress on racial divide I don't even know which side to support.
I say if we want to show our dissent against this issue we should sleep on the foot paths of the roads for one day and show them in numbers that we will not let them in power next time. If they do not listen to majority of population then they have to go down. May be another kashmir should suffice.
I wished to write for at least 2-3 paragraphs more after this but if this is too long nobody is going to read it.
